No Promise of Tomorrow

Ben Sasse is known for his public leadership and national attention, but beneath all of that is a man who has spoken often about his faith in Jesus, his love for family.

More recently, his faith became even more personal and visible after he publicly shared his diagnosis with terminal stage-four pancreatic cancer. Instead of responding with bitterness or despair, he spoke honestly about fear, faith, heaven, and the peace he has found in Christ. 60 Minutes recently interviewed Sasse. The discussion of faith begins at the 8 minute 10 second point of this video, and the highlight I am referring to specifically is at the 11 minute mark of this video. See interview here.

His story is a reminder that faith is tested and refined most deeply in difficult seasons. Anyone can speak about hope when life is easy, but when someone faces suffering with honesty, peace, and trust in God, people tend to notice.

Ben Sasse’s journey points to a truth Christians have believed since the time of Christ: this world is temporary, but God remains faithful. And even in uncertainty, believers can hold on to the hope that Jesus is always present, always good, and always enough.
