Meet Mike Seckman

Student Minister // mseckman@madisonchristian.org

Hey everybody, thanks for checking out Student Ministry! We have a lot going on at Madison, and a special way to keep the whole family connected. Please have a look around and if you have any questions, feel free to message Mike anytime.

Together Family Ministry

Student ministry at Madison is not simply about youth. We want to encourage and empower families for continued growth and discipleship.

Together Family Ministry meets for lunch on the first Sunday of every month in the fireside room. Expect a meaningful time of fun, fellowship and encouragement.

Please bring the whole family and share life together as one church.

“Bringing families together… to be set apart”

Together Family Ministry

“Where Mystery and Truth collide.”

“Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” (Psalm 34:8)

Seekers

SEEKERS is a special place to seek truth and experience God. Students in 7th – 12th grade are welcome to join in on the excitement.

At SEEKERS we want to provide students with a unique relationship building environment which promotes both connection and spiritual development. Students are encouraged to come as they are, bring friends, meet new people, and discover the real love of an awesome God.

Join us Wednesday nights during the school year for a special time of meaningful fun and friendship. Activities begin in the elementary chapel area at 6:30 pm.

Ichthys

ICHTHYS is the Sunday morning student discussion group. If you are looking to grow deeper in your faith, then the ICHTHYS assembly is for you.

ICHTHYS is specifically designed for Jr. and Sr. high students to participate in the work of building personal faith that lasts. This is a special place where each individual story is engaged by the truth of God in a relevant way. Come prepared to talk about life, and expect to encounter Jesus!

The conversation begins every Sunday morning at 9:00 am in room 757.

Your story, your faith, your God.”

ICHTHYS (ἰχθύς) Is the Koine Greek word meaning “Fish” – a symbol utilized by early Christians to indicate an assembly of Christ followers.

“Rise up, stand firm and live the Way.”

“Lord, when You showed Your favor, You made me stand like a strong mountain…” (Psalm 30:7)

Rise

RISE is our student leadership program. RISE students are provided with special opportunities to learn, develop and grow together by serving in the mission of the Church. Our student leaders are encouraged to develop a servant attitude as they share the good news through words and work.

If you would like to find out more information about our RISE Student Leadership Community please contact us for details.

Rules, Policies, and Forms

If you have any questions, contact Michael Seckman at mseckman@madisonchristian.org.

The Student Ministry at Madison Christian Church has one major rule for all youth programs and events:

RESPECT

Matthew 22:34-40 says: Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

If everyone respects each other, respects God, and respects themselves, all events will go great and run smoothly.

We also ask that everyone respect any additional rules that may be given as a part of participating in events at different locations and with other organizations.

  • Any student hoping to attend any event that requires travel off of the Madison Christian Church campus must have a completed MCC Teens Medical Release form for EACH event that requires transportation.
  • Other forms may be needed depending on the requirements of either a location we travel to or an organization we interact with. Those forms will be provided to students hoping to go.
  • If there is a cost involved with a trip, all money must be in either check or cash form. Checks may be filled out to Madison Christian Church, just please make a note in the memo line what it is for. Money may be turned into either the Youth Minister (Mike) or to the office. We request that cash turned in ahead of time for an event please be placed in a labeled envelope if at all possible to ensure that all money is organized and credited to the right people.
  • If a student chooses to participate in an event or trip, the student is expected to stay until the designated time. Exceptions will be made if there is some sort of emergency situation or other arrangements have been made with the Youth Minister.
  • Any adult interested in volunteering and helping out with youth programs are required to undergo a background check. This is not a statement of distrust in any adult, it’s merely an unfortunate necessity of today’s world and a step we choose to take to ensure the safety of all teens who participate in our activities. Interested adults will be asked to fill out a “Permission to Obtain a Background Check” form and this will be done at no cost to the interested adult.

Below are youth ministry parent/guardian consent forms available for download in .pdf format. You can download and print them, then turn them into the youth ministry leaders.
