We are in the midst of receiving our end-of-year offering called “Your Best Gift.” The Lord has blessed this offering in a great way in the past, and we have been able through His grace and great help to do some amazing things. Among other things, we have given many scholarships to Madison Christian School, Round Lake Camp, CIY Mix, CIY Move, and even Senior Saints in the Smokies. Lives are eternally changed through these programs. We have purchased commercial refrigerators for the Groveport Food Pantry. We have donated and built 13 houses for Habitat for Humanity through Help Build Hope. Here is one of those beautiful houses that sits on Reeb Avenue in the south end of Columbus: (The family that received this home had been homeless.)
Last year, we were able to give $30,000 toward this (pictured below) beautiful church building (several of us were able to help with this building) literally on the side of a mountain in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Lord is using this church to change lives in a remarkable way in Honduras.
WHAT’S THE VISION FOR THIS YEAR!
This year, through your giving, the Lord will give us another opportunity to be part of some amazing things. First, we want to complete a well and community garden in the bush of Zimbabwe, Africa. Our teens have been collecting for a well for two years and are less than one-third of the way to paying for a well. (The well costs $6,500 and the community garden is an additional $600.) We are going to come alongside our teens in this effort and our offering will complete the well and purchase the community garden. In Zimbabwe, as in much of the world, clean water changes everything. Here is a picture of one of our Zimbabwe Mission Teams (2010) pumping the first drop of water out of a well we put in Mhondoro in the bush of Zimbabwe:
We also want to have funds available for our team for needs on the ground when they go to Zimbabwe in July-August, 2020. (One year on our mission trip we purchased cows, one year we purchased land, one year we provided drought relief.) There are always needs to be met in a third-world, poverty-stricken, drought-riddled country with 90% unemployment and 175% inflation in the last 6 months and we want our team to be able to respond with immediacy to those needs.
We also want to replenish the Scholarship Fund so that deserving people can attend Round Lake Camp, CIY Mix and Move, etc. Last year your giving allowed us to invest thousands of dollars sending people to these great programs who otherwise would not have been financially able to attend.
With your generous response to this offering, May 1-2, 2020 we will have our Help Build Hope weekend and build Habitat for Humanity houses numbers 14 and 15. Can you imagine the number of lives changed in Jesus’ name as we have built and given these houses to deserving families?
And finally, we want to make a contribution to the Groveport Food Pantry. We are passionate about feeding the hungry in our community, and we want to help to meet a special need identified by the board of the Food Pantry.
Here are the answers to the FAQs:
How much of this money does the church keep?
Not a penny. Every cent is disbursed to the causes we have outlined.
Who determines how the money is disbursed?
The Administrative/Finance Committee of Madison Christian Church prayerfully determines the disbursement to the various causes and oversees that disbursement.
Does the congregation get an accounting?
Yes. The congregation gets a full accounting for every dime that is given.
Because of the amount and quality of ministry that will be produced through this offering, we are excited to collect it and distribute it. Without apology, we are asking you to consider making Your Best Gift between now and 12:00 midnight, December 31. Thank you so much.
