I have had the opportunity to see some beautiful places, in this country and in various spots in the world. To my simple way of thinking, nothing tops that very unique spot in the heart of Ohio where Holmes, Wayne, and Ashland counties come together. The intersection is State Route 179 and State Route 3, and the place is Round Lake Christian Camp, a beautiful, unique and wonderful place.
We have a whole lot of history there. This was the camp where I went as a youngster. This is the camp our boys went to as soon as they were old enough, and never wanted to come home when their camp was over. This is the place where I was privileged to be a Dean for lots of years, where I got to assemble some of the most outstanding faculty members you could imagine to influence campers in their walk with Christ. Now, Jonathon is a Dean, and he runs a great week of camp.
We will be at Round Lake this week for Jonathon’s 5th-6th grade week of camp. We have several from Madison that will be campers this week, and many of us are serving with Jonathon on his faculty. These kids will worship, learn, memorize Scriptures and have a ton of fun. The 5th and 6th grade campers are so receptive to Jesus and the gospel that at the end of the week it is almost certain that some of them will give their lives to Christ and be baptized in that lake. Without a doubt, it a great investment of a week of one’s life.
Here is what I would ask of you. Great weeks of camp happen when they are built on a foundation of prayer. PLEASE pray for an amazing week for these students and their journey with Jesus.
