We are blessed to have a very active and well-organized Mission Committee at Madison Christian Church. Long before I ever arrived at Madison, there was a deep commitment to fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) through missions locally, throughout the United States, and globally. There is great passion for continuing that very important work in 2023.
As you know, the concept of missions goes back to Acts 13 when Saul and Barnabas were sent out by the church at Antioch with the gospel. The Holy Spirit told the group that was assembled that were worshipping and fasting, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for which I have called them.” After additional prayer and fasting, they sent them off. This was the first of three long missionary journeys of the apostle Paul.
Our Mission Committee determines the allocation of funds to the missionaries we support. They pray for these missionaries, inform the congregation of the activities of these missionaries and monitor the activity of these missionaries. This is an important task, and they do it with effectiveness.
We want to say “Thank you” to the members of this team. Kevin and Theresa Trusty chair the committee. Committee Members are Lynn Armour, Janet Sisko, Margaret Hutchins, Sue Mowbray, Betty Davidson, Jean White, and Cheryl and Mark Seeley. These mission-minded folks do an outstanding job.
