Music and Worship Ministry
The Music and Worship Ministry at Madison exists to assist the congregation to experience worship much like the Israelites did as they came to the temple.
We approach “the gates of praise, enter His gates with thanksgiving and praise, draw near to HIS presence as we approach Him, and come close to the Holy of holies.”
It’s our goal to be transparent as we lead and let the congregation seek His face.
Ministry opportunities include:
First Service Musicians and Vocalists
Madison offers two weekly Sunday morning services. The first service at 9am is a blend of traditional hymns, favorite choruses, and modern songs enjoyed by the entire congregation.
The Orchestra is comprised of volunteers who love to play various brass, woodwind, and stringed instruments. The Orchestra rehearses most Wednesday evenings at 8pm (earlier in the summer), and every Sunday for a second rehearsal from 8am – 8:20am. The choir then joins the orchestra at 8:20am to go through the songs a third time. We try to be well-rehearsed so that we can be as excellent as possible to please the Lord. Contact Matt Archibald at marchibald@madisonchristian.org for more information, or an appointment to chat.
The Celebration choir seasons begin the first Wednesday in September, as Wednesday night ministry begins. We prepare special music for worship, Veteran’s day, Thanksgiving, and the annual Madison Christmas Festival. As spring arrives our music centers around the Palm Sunday and Easter season. We continue to lead worship until the first Sunday in July. The choir takes a break in July and August, then reconvenes in September. Many of our singers find it convenient to rehearse with us for special events like Christmas, Easter, and Veteran’s day celebrations. We are flexible, and welcome anyone to sing with us as your schedule permits. The celebration choir is open to anyone who loves to sing, and is committed to rehearsals. We welcome anyone of at least high school age to sing with us.
Second Service Musicians and Vocalists
Second service is at 10:30 am, and worship is led by the Band and Praise Team Singers. The minister provides the same sermon for both services. The second service praise-team combines instrumentalists and vocalists, and leads the 10:30am second service each week, and during specific holidays and events.
The combined band and vocalists rehearse on most Saturday mornings from 9 -10 am on the main stage, and again on Sundays from 9:20-9:45am in the music room (713) while first service is worshipping in the main worship center. They are committed and well prepared to lead each week. Charts and song demos are provided so that we are well prepared. A one or two month schedule is provided so that several volunteers have opportunity to play and sing.
If you’re interested in being a part of the second service band, or singing in praise team, please contact Matt at marchibald@madisonchristian.org. He will contact you and set up an interview to hear you sing and/or play your instrument, and chat about the details of the Madison music team. We are always open to new members who can play moderate to difficult sheet music and/or chord charts for guitars. A moderate to advanced vocal level is needed to participate in our second service vocal team.
