Seeking God’s Guidance

This week we will continue our series, “Digging Deeply into the God of the Bible.” We are going to consider the fact that the God of the Bible is “Our Great Guide.” We can depend upon him to lead the way. Moses was wise enough to say to the Lord, “If your Presence does not go with us, we do not want to go.” I think we can all agree that we do not want to end up anywhere where the Lord has not led us.

As we get ready to tee up this subject for Sunday, here are some verses directly from the Word of God that help us see guidance in our lives from God. As we seek to get our lives into alignment with the God of the Bible, may I suggest that these are excellent requests for all of us as we think about God as “Our Great Guide.”

“Make me know Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day” (Psalm 25:4-5).

“Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; for I trust in You; teach me the way in which I should walk; for to You I lift up my soul” (Psalm 143:8).

“Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground” (Psalm 143:10).

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

“For You are my rock and my fortress; for Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me” (Psalm 31:3).

O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling places” (Psalm 43:3). 

Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:1-2).
