We had a wonderful Chili Cook Off on Saturday night. The great thing about this event is that it is not about chili – it is about fun, fellowship and changing lives. How does chili change lives you ask? People vote for their favorite chili with dollars – 100% of those dollars go to missions. This year, thanks to the blessing of the Lord, a very hardworking committee, and the generosity of people, over $6,000 was raised. Money will be divided equally between three things:
The Vogt Family in Tanzania
Food baskets for Honduras
Clean water for Honduras (Water filters)
The Lord provides so beautifully for his work to be done everywhere it is being done. I thought you might be interested in the response of Sarah Vogt when Rhonda Brininger informed her of the the results of the evening:
I’m physically shaking, tears in my eyes, and with goosebumps on my arms. This can not come at a better time. What I didn’t tell you was that we had to go to the city a couple weeks ago to get Rich’s tooth surgical removed due to tooth resorption due to trauma 15+ years ago. It’s going to cost $3000+ for everything (he has to get an implant… But it’s still a fraction of what it would have been too do this in the states). We were ready to take a huge hit to our finances this year but prayed that God would take care of it (as He also does). We never imagined that chili would bring in that much!! Between this and another church’s spaghetti dinner (which we were completely unaware of), it’ll completely covered this unexpected cost. God is soooo good!! I am just in shock…sitting here in amazement. Thank you all so much!!! – Sarah
Just one more way our amazing God provides for his people and his work! What a mighty God we serve!
