Mother’s Day, what a great day. The busiest day of the year to visit restaurants because families are honoring the mothers in their lives. A day filled with thank yous and pampering the ones that gave us life or love us like a mother. It is great, mothers should be celebrated on this day, they should be looked up to for the great work they do.
Mother’s Day is fantastic, and I love celebrating it with the the wonderful women in my life. The only caveat that I have is that they should be celebrated and thanked on the other 364 days of the year as well.
As far as I am concerned, Mother’s Day is each and every day. Mother’s day is when a woman finds out they will have the joy of carrying their child in the womb for nine months. Mother’s day is also when an expectant mother hears the devastating news that there will not be a baby. Mother’s day is when a baby smiles at her for the first time. Mother’s day is when a woman that has been told told she won’t have her own children takes in children that are told they don’t have a mother. Mother’s day is when a toddler needs held and comforted after falling. Mother’s day is when she takes her kindergartener to school for the first time. Mother’s day is holding sick kids in the night and giving up sleep to care for them. Mother’s day is when she comforts her elementary child after being made fun of at school. Mother’s day is when her middle schooler sheepishly gives her a hug or kiss in front of peers…or when they won’t give that hug or kiss. Mother’s day is when she watches every game their children play in, from ring around the rosey to the final game of their senior season. Mother’s day is when her high schooler asks her for advice on dating. Mother’s day is when she drops her kids off at college and acts tough, only to cry the whole way home. Mother’s day is kissing her son or daughter on their wedding day. Mother’s day is also grandmother’s day each and every day loving grandchildren are in the picture.
Mother’s day is every day for every woman that shares the love they have with their family. Happy Mother’s Day!
