Earthquake in Haiti

We have been watching with prayerful interest the news reports and the e-mails we have been receiving from missions in Haiti following Tuesday’s earthquake.  Bill Hauser, the father of our Children’s Minister, Jason Hauser, is in Haiti right now on a preaching mission.  We are glad to report that he is safe.  Several reports from Lifeline Christian Mission told of some injuries due to the earthquake.  Jason’s dad is at Christianville, and everyone there is safe.

It has been my privilege to go to Haiti for mission work.  Housing there is often questionable, and the infrastructure is lacking.  It is impossible to imagine the chaos that has been created by this earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale and the subsequent aftershocks.  You can be sure that it will take a long time to get a completely accurate assessment of the damage.

In addition to our prayer support, which is obviously the most important thing we can do, we are going to give our people the opportunity to contribute financially to help with this situation.  An envelope will be at the Welcome Center on Sunday for contributions, and we will divide the monies given between Lifeline Christian Mission and Christianville for Earthquake Relief.
