Most people are on the continuing quest to not be fat. Obesity is a huge problem in our nation. Here is a chance for you to view F.A.T. from another angle. At Billy Graham’s funeral, his son, Ned, said that his father was F.A.T. – faithful, available, teachable. Let’s think about those qualities.
Dr. David Jeremiah says, “Faithfulness isn’t quaint morality or old-fashioned virtue. It is the core of integrity, sincerity, and dependability. It’s the glue that holds our culture together. Without it, relationships cannot survive, and society cannot function.”
How important is being available to God for his purposes? There is an old cliché which is absolutely true: “God is not so much interested in our ability. He is interested in our availability.”
God uses people that are teachable. It is the height of arrogance to believe that we know all that can be known or needs to be known. We should go through life like dry sponges, eager to learn from many people wiser than ourselves.
The key to our usefulness for God: F.A.T. Let’s work to make sure we are faithful, available, and teachable.
