Madison Christian Church

On the Team

Submitted by Paul Barnes on July 21, 2010 - 12:36pm.

Having served at Madison Christian Church since January of 1996, nothing should really surprise me about this amazing congregation.  However, it is good to get the occasional reminder of what an extraordinary congregation Madison Christian Church truly is.

I am so gratified by how you - across the board - have embraced the Zimbabwe Mission Trip and the Zimbabwe Mission Team.  A great wave of enthusiasm is sweeping across this church about this mission trip.  When the plans began to unfold for this trip that will cover August 11-26, we knew it would be a huge undertaking.  We are confident that all of you are praying, many of you have supported members of the team financially, countless of you have worked on crafts or made dresses, you have given school supplies and soccer balls, and have offered many other types of assistance.  All we can say is:  THANK YOU.  THANK YOU.  THANK YOU.

We are going to have ZIMBABWE NIGHT on Sunday, August 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room.  EVERYONE IS INVITED.  You can be with the team, get our travel itinerary, receive a complete copy of our schedule while in Zimbabwe, and have a time for questions and answers and refreshments.  I'll be honest - we want to capitalize on the excitement and enthusiasm and capture your full prayer support.

I hope to be very repetitive as the trip gets closer.  I want to drive home two very important points:

  1. When it comes to missions, you are either a goer or a sender.  On this particular trip, only 11 of us can be goers.  The rest of you are senders, and you are marvelous senders!!
  2. You are on the team!  Everyone of you are on the team!  We are taking YOU with us to Zimbabwe.  Thank you for your support.

(For purposes of maximum coverage, I am using this as both my blog and as my column in this week's program/newsletter.)
